Welcome to the Pottery Studio at PGG!
Our home pottery studio allows us to share our love of pottery with our guests, from one-day workshops to multi-session classes. All three of the permanent residents here at PGG have experience in wheel-throwing and hand-building and enjoy teaching novice potters and working alongside seasoned ceramicists.
The pottery studio is located within our woodworking barn. We have two throwing wheels, one kickwheel (with an optional motor) and one Brent C Pottery Wheel, an electric kiln, and a large assortment of glazes. We use buff, porcelain, terra cotta and white clay.
We can accommodate a beginner-level wheel throwing pottery class for 1-2 people or a hand-building workshop for 1-4 people. The timeline for creating a piece, bisque firing, glazing, and firing is between 4-6 weeks.
Our guests who are only in town for a few days can participate in one of our One-Day Workshops (detailed below) during which we throw 2-3 pieces. The PGG potters will then trim your pieces and glaze them with the glazes you've selected. We can ship items to our out of town guests (for the cost of shipping).
Our local guests can take part in a beginner lesson series which includes 3 lessons on wheel-throwing techniques (all done within about a 2-week period) and a final shorter glaze session to finish the process by glazing your own bisque-fired pieces. Guests can expect to make between 5-8 finished pieces.
If you are interested in throwing or building with us, submit a contact form below and one of the ceramics leaders will connect with you to see what exactly they are looking for and make sure we can accommodate your expectations.
