Farm and Forage Series: Spring Salad with Ramps (Thursday, April 24 @5pm)
Join us for the first program of the year in our Farm & Forage Series where we forage for food in our woods and share a picnic meal outside the garden! ☺️
Join Farmer Emy for a rugged, off-trail hike through the woods to collect ramps and edible plants and flowers, then return to the farm to wash and assemble your salad and share an outdoor picnic lunch!
What will we be eating?
In the Spring Salad event you will learn to identify edible and non-edible spring ephemerals including ramps, trout lilies, false mermaid, springbeauty, Mayapples, violets, and more! We will forage some of the edible plants for our salads as well as classic forage greens including dandelion, clover, and chickweed. We will add our foraged feast to a base of salad greens, lettuces and tomatoes, and there is the option for guests to add farm gathered freshly cooked hard-boiled eggs.
Who is this event for?
This event is entirely outdoors and requires the ability to hike up and down steep ravines, cross a shallow creek on stepping stones, and navigate rugged and muddy off-trail terrain. This program is not suitable for small children unless they can be in a hiking carrier for the foraging portion.
Participants should wear hiking boots and bring a basket for foraging, your favorite salad dressing, and a water bottle. Bug spray to prevent ticks is recommended.
$30/person, advance registration required
